Half Moon’s General Manager, Shernette Crichton, was named Hotelier of the Year, and Nahdira Spence of Sandals Royal Caribbean earned Hotel Employee of the Year at the Jamaica Hotel and Tourist Association’s 64th Annual Awards at Dreams Rose Hall, Montego Bay on Saturday, June 28.
Pierre Battaglia received a Lifetime Achievement Award after retiring from Couples Sans Souci, while another was presented posthumously to Sandals visionary Brian Roper.
Usain Bolt received the Abe Issa Award for Excellence for elevating Brand Jamaica and his youth-focused philanthropy.
Meanwhile, Tropical Tours won for Local Transportation and Destination Management; Caribbean Producers Jamaica was named Purveyor of the Year; Jamwest Motorsports & Adventure Park earned Attraction of the Year; Caribbean Airlines took International Airline Award; and Rose Hall Great House was named Allied Member of the Year. Environmental awards went to Jamaica Inn and Bahia Principe. Other honours included Marilyn Monteith, Chef Mark Cole, and Odaine Brady, while the Jamaica Constabulary Force was recognised for outstanding service to tourism.
